Network of Partners

To more effectively create systemic social change and to efficiently utilize a variety of resources, the Gandhi Institute partners with other individuals and organizations in many synergistic endeavors.

We seek to support and learn from our partners’ experience and support their missions as part of our work.

Partnering with other organizations is one way to acknowledge our interdependence; it models sustainable, resourceful social change for others.

At the Gandhi House, our resource table is packed with information about other organizations and initiatives in our community. Our conference room is also used as a meeting space for a wide variety of community groups including

Vets for Peace, Alternatives to Violence Project, and the Leading Ladies 4-H group on a regular basis and The Rochester City School District, Teen Empowerment, Links4Kids, and Pachamama Alliance as needed.

In addition to our robust local network, we work closely with several national and international partners including The Metta Center for Nonviolence, and Mahatma Gandhi Venezuela.

University Partnership

The University of Rochester (UR) provides invaluable support to the Gandhi Institute. In addition to an annual budgetary contribution ($75,000 in 2020-2021), the University provides other resources, including legal and IT support.

While the Gandhi Institute is a 501(c)3 organization, we are grateful to the University of Rochester for hosting the Institute and providing a substantial part of our yearly budget along with pro-bono professional services. We enjoy working with University students, faculty, and staff on campus and in the community.

Additionally, our partnership provides UR students with a bridge into the Rochester community. UR students serve as student board members and as ongoing volunteers, both individually and in groups. Student organizations of every kind utilize the spaces at the Institute and participate in public events here.
