DESCRIPTION:Intro to Restorative Circles with Dominic Barter\n\n\nThis October Dominic Barter\, from Brazil\, will offer a weekend introduction to the design of dialogical\nsocial systems.\n\nWe’ll focus on how communities\, families\, groups and institutions can discover and strengthen their own effective responses to conflict through the unique Restorative Circles process developed by Dominic and colleagues in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in the mid 1990s. This craft process of community self-determination has inspired change in a huge diversity of contexts\, proving effective in war zones from the kitchen table to the office\, from classrooms to campaigns\, from prisons to court rooms and even armed civil conflict.\n\nThe Friday evening is an open presentation.\n\nThe full weekend event invites participants to share resources\, food\, care for children\, rides and housing\, so that those who wish to come are able to\, while also sustaining the work and the communities from which it sprang. DESCRIPTION:Join us in this community empowerment series\, rooted in essential dialogues. This series is focused on bringing together generations\, to draw on collective wisdom towards naming\, understanding\, and galvanizing around issues that are critical to our community. \nThe fifth meeting of the Rochester Roundtable series will take place on Saturday\, December 9 at 11 AM at the Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence (929 S. Plymouth Ave.) If you are able to join us a little earlier\, we’d encourage it (as early as 10:30 if you like).
