SUMMARY:The Third Harmony Film Screening and Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The Third Harmony tells the story of humanity’s greatest (and most overlooked) resource. This resource is nonviolence.\n \nJoin Gandhi Institute staff for a virtual screening of the Metta Center’s film\, The Third Harmony. Following the screening\, participants are invited to join a Q&A discussion with the film’s writer/director\, Michael Nagler\, and the Metta Center’s Executive Director\, Stephanie Van Hook. \nAbout the film: \nThe Third Harmony explores what nonviolence is\, how it looks\, and how it works. By interviewing nonviolence experts\, activists\, and practitioners around the world\, the film shows how we can contribute to the growth of ourselves and society by tapping into the power of nonviolence. \nThe film is just one part of the Third Harmony Project. The other two parts are Michael Nagler’s book and the Metta Center’s board game called Cosmic Peaceforce: Mission Harmony 3. \nRegistration: \nRegistration for this event is closed.

SUMMARY:Kingian Nonviolence Introduction Series
DESCRIPTION:The Kingian Nonviolence workshops are transformational experiences that have helped thousands of people from around the world understand the depth of the philosophy of nonviolence\, and learn to begin to bring the practices into their lives and their work. \nThrough small group activities\, readings\, video presentations\, mini-lectures and discussions\, we explore topics such as: \n\n\nThe definitions of violence and nonviolence\nAn analysis of the different types and levels of conflict\, and how they escalate and de-escalate\nA brief history of the Civil Rights Movement and some of Dr. King’s philosophies\nThe principles (the will) Kingian Nonviolence\, how to view and transform conflict\nThe steps (the skill) of Kingian Nonviolence\, how to engage with conflict and organize a campaign\n\nWhether you are an organizer working for social change\, a teacher trying to change the culture of your school or simply an individual trying to deal with the conflicts in your personal life\, each person will walk away from our workshops with new skills and a new perspective. \nSince September 2020 our staff members Bianca Pointner and Jonathon Jones have been engaging in a Level One Certification Process (through On Earth Peace) and are offering this introduction series as part of manifesting their knowledge around Kingian philosophy\, training and organizing. Together with our guest co-facilitator Max Heine we are looking forward to learn\, explore and reflect with you. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to bianca@gandhiinstitute.org. \n\nRegistration & Cost:\nCapacity is limited to 25\, please register below to reserve your spot. In an effort to make our events as accessible to as many people as possible\, we’ve created a sliding scale\, donation-based model.

SUMMARY:Embodying Nonviolent Communication
DESCRIPTION:For many folks\, effective communication has never felt harder or more important. Given the challenges our communities have been facing\, it can be easy and almost irresistible to disengage from others\, rather than talking about what’s really going on and to share a vision of where to go from here. Learning Nonviolent Communication offers one avenue for engaging deeply with ourselves and one another so we’re better equipped to keep doing the work of building a future that works for all. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Gwen Olton\, Bianca Pointner and Jonathon Jones for six weeks of exploration and practice in Nonviolent Communication through thought\, speech\, and embodied practices. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will explore how to apply this framework through discussions\, interactive break-out rooms\, & roleplays.\n\n\n\nRegistration & Cost:\n\nCapacity is limited to 25\, please register below to reserve your spot. In an effort to make our events as accessible to as many people as possible\, we’ve created a sliding scale\, donation-based model.

As appropriate\, all employers should implement good hygiene and infection control practices\, including: \n* Promote frequent and thorough hand washing\, including by providing workers\, customers\, and worksite visitors with a place to wash their hands. If soap and running water are not immediately available\, provide alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60% alcohol.* Encourage workers and customers to stay home if they are sick.* Encourage respiratory etiquette\, including covering coughs and sneezes.* Provide customers and the public with tissues and trash receptacles.* Discourage workers and customers from using other workers’ phones\, desks\, offices\, or other work tools and equipment\, when possible.* Maintain regular housekeeping practices\, including routine cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces\, equipment\, and other elements of the work environment. When choosing cleaning chemicals\, employers should consult information on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved disinfectant labels with claims against emerging viral pathogens. Products with EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens claims are expected to be effective against SARS-CoV-2 based on data for harder to kill viruses. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use of all cleaning and disinfection products (e.g.\, concentration\, application method and contact time\, PPE).

SUMMARY:Nonviolence News Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Join the M.K. Gandhi Institute and Nonviolence News Editor Rivera Sun and others to explore this week’s Nonviolence News stories. Share your favorite headlines\, your burning questions\, the most creative tactics\, and ideas for taking action in your own community. Nonviolence News was started in Spring 2019 by Rivera Sun as a sister project of Nonviolence Now. Nonviolence is used on a far vaster scale – and far more frequently – than most people imagine. It is literally changing our world and shaping our lives every single day. By collecting an impressive round-up of stories\, Nonviolence News shows readers what’s happening. It gives us a different sense of the size and effectiveness of nonviolence in action. No longer a fringe element\, nonviolence is increasingly being portrayed as the powerful force it truly is: ordinary and extraordinary all at once.\nSubscribe here to receive the weekly e-newsletter. \nQuote from one of our participants who recently joined the Happy Hour: \n“Attending this session was hopeful\, inspiring and thought-provoking. Thank you so much!” \nDeep Gratitude to our co-sponsors for supporting the Happy Hour-Series: \nBackbone Campaign\nM.K.
