Picture of Nai'a Keith-Handschuh

Nai'a Keith-Handschuh

Nai’a hails from Reno, Nevada in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains. She has had a passion for justice, both social and environmental, from a young age and attended the University of Rochester on the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony scholarship. She continued to deepen her understanding of social issues and work in service of the Rochester community as an Urban Fellow and a participant in the Community Engaged Learning certificate program during her undergraduate experience. After graduating from the UofR this past May with a BA in Anthropology and a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Nai’a has joined the Gandhi Institute as an Americorps VISTA in the Rochester Youth Year Fellowship program. She is supporting MKGI in growing its capacity to spread nonviolence while she continues to immerse herself in the Rochester community. Nai’a is happiest when she is in the mountains, in the water, listening to music, reading, or sewing.
